David Barry is Executive Chair at Martello and founder of its Construction practice. David Barry is a senior construction expert witness and arbitrator specialising in project management and delay analysis. With over 30 years’ experience, he has acted as expert witness and advisor on some of the most complex projects internationally including airports, bridges, hospitals, highways, railways, industrial and process plants, and oil and gas infrastructure.

A major contributor to the Society of Construction Law Delay and Disruption Protocol (second edition), David’s work has become a leading reference for delay analysis in construction law. He also serves as an arbitrator and Dispute Adjudication Board tribunal member. In May 2024, David was awarded Life Honorary Membership of the Society of Construction Law by Lord Justice Coulson.

David previously founded and led two successful expert witness consultancies: Precept Programme Management (acquired by Navigant Consulting in 2006) and Blackrock Expert Services (acquired by Kroll in 2020).
